Where we meet and run

The majority of our regular runs begin in Rowlands Gill, Tyne and Wear.

In the winter our meeting point is generally in the car park of Derwent Park in Rowlands Gill. In the summer our meeting points do change according to our session. Please check in advance if you would like to come along to try one of our sessions:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

Our main meeting point is the car park in Derwent Park, off Burnopfield Road, NE39 1lG,. (Down the hill from the chippy, next to the sand play area and caravan site – see map.)

In the summer months we also regularly meet at Chopwell Woods main car park, NE39 1LT.  This is also the meeting point for our beginners’ group. See the page on the Forestry Commission’s website, Chopwell Woodland Parkfor more details.

We do also occasionally train in other locations.  Please check before setting out!

On the first Thursday of the month, our Thursday crew run from outside Pedalling Squares Coffee Bar, The Old Brassworks, Quality Row Road, Whickham Bank, Swalwell, NE16 3AQ. The rest of the month our meeting points can vary, so please check before setting out.

We may meet in other locations, particularly in the summer, so please check back regularly if you are unsure or look out for updates on our members’ Facebook page.

We love where we run!

We are lucky to train in a great part of the North East. Our runs take us to the streets of Rowlands Gill, around the Derwent Valley and beyond…

Look out for us on the Derwent Walk, around Derwenthaugh Park, Chopwell Woods and the Red Kite Trail.

The Derwent Valley is in the Land of Oak & Iron, which stretches from the fringes of the North Pennines following the course of the River Derwent to the River Tyne.
