We’re a small, friendly club of mixed abilities and ages, joined together by our love of running.

Finally we are getting back into some training as a club, with small group sessions of five runners and one leading, following social distancing guidelines.  Spaces are limited, but it does mean that some of us get the chance to train together every week.

We’re also taking part in Greener Miles Running‘s weekly virtual team challenges  – see their FACEBOOK page – these have been absolutely crucial to keeping us going. Check out their events – you don’t need to be in a team to join in.

England Athletics current guidance

George Ogle Memorial Race

The 2020 George Ogle Memorial Race was due to take place on Wednesday (27 May), and when we postponed the event in March, we hoped that we would be able to reschedule to September. However, as we continue to follow English Athletics guidelines and with no indication when restrictions around mass events will be lifted, Derwent Valley Running Club think the most appropriate and safest thing to do will be to cancel this year’s race and focus on 2021 being the best one yet. 🤜💪

About us

We meet in Rowlands Gill and train in Gateshead’s beautiful Derwent Valley, part of the Land of Oak & Iron.

We have training session throughout the week, as well as regular social runs.

We are affiliated to England Athletics and our members enjoy running in road, trail, cross-country and fell races. Some of us do 5ks, some of us do marathons, some of us even get our kicks from ultras and triathlons.
